So many childhood memories associated with Disney Movies.  I really wish Disney would do something live-action again that would be as good as the stuff from the golden age.  Three other things I love about Disney:
Spending the day in Disney World
Eating in Disney World
Disney Weddings

Disney Weddings

So Jess is blogging about wedding cakes again.  For someone who claims to be disturbed by the process, she sure writes about it frequently.  I’ve been warming to the idea, under the assumption that it can be made of cheesecake.  Are any of you planning weddings soon?  Is the cake really that big of a deal?

Disney Rant

What is it with people and Disney World?  Kelly is raving about some Pop Century Food Court while Issur, who you’d imagine would never even THINK about Disney is raving about his Disney cravings as well.  Is it possible that Disney has some kind of virus to which I am immune?

Is Mickey a secret agent from an organization sent to take over the World?  Am I next on his target list?  All of these questions seem important right now as everyone’s talking Disney.

It wouldn’t be so strange except we’re talking about essentially a soulless corporation.  I can’t understand how these guys work up such enthusiasm for Disney but rage about GE, BP and every other “evil” corporation.  Why does Disney get a pass?

I’ll have to do some more research to see why I’m immune from all this, but right now I just don’t get it.  Does anyone understand this Disney magic well enough to explain it to me?

Why In the World Do People Spend So Much On Weddings?

I was reading some articles about weddings recently.  The first was talking about wedding cakes from a friend of mine who’s very down to Earth.  Despite this he’s gotten all caught up in wedding mania.  I’ve had the experience of watching him go through his plans and I cannot fathom how he’s gotten so interested in cakes.

We all accept that saving is hard.  Why would you spend the kind of money that people are talking about for their wedding?  I’ve never met someone who has been married for a long time who wishes they had spent more on their wedding.  Keep it in mind whenever you’re spending money.

When Giffords was asked about one of Kelly’s space missions, she said “he will fly with my (wedding) ring.” Kelly had Gifford’s wedding ring inscribed, “You’re the closest to heaven that I’ve ever been.

Is that a Goo-Goo Dolls Reference?

In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, liberals sought to paint Loughner as an anti-government, tea party conservative. Conservatives retorted that Loughner lacked anything close to a coherent political philosophy — a case strengthened by subsequent glimpses into his personal life that suggests someone struggling with mental illness.

Loughner’s decision to affiliate as an independent rather than a Republican or Democrat would seem to affirm the sense that while he targeted Giffords in the attack, it was not a decision born of a set of deeply held political beliefs that fit neatly into either party.

In wake of tragedy both sides rush to prove how it’s the fault of the other side.  One of the biggest problems of continuing to partake of “two party politics.”

Hey, guess who's mad at the GOP establishment--the Tea Party, LOL! "In their final days controlling the House, Democrats succeeded in passing legislation that Tea Party leaders opposed, including a bill to cover the cost of medical care for rescue workers at the site of the World Trade Center attacks, an arms-control treaty with Russia, a food safety bill and a repeal of the ban on gay men and lesbians serving openly in the military," to which one Tea Party leader said this: "The Republicans, frankly, have been a disaster."

soupsoup:

The Tea Party are useful idiots for the GOP. The GOP has no interest in lowering the deficit, despite what they say, their actions now and for the entire history of their party shows otherwise.

This all goes back to the fact that the Tea Party didn’t exist in a substantial form until a Democrat entered the White House.

A Republican president with a Republican controlled congress before Obama ran up a $596 billion dollar deficit.

Where was the Tea Party then?

Shows two dangerous assumptions:

1.) Most Tea Party Members don’t really favor small government, they favor THEIR government.  It’s a hijacked Libertarian movement.

2.) True libertarians have only slightly more faith in Republicans than Democrats.  The Tea Party movement was explicitly hijacked by the Republicans to blunt its momentum and redirect it, not to incorporate it.

I’ve been told that black guys don’t like the “Successful Black Man” Meme.  I don’t know what black guys you’ve been talking too…
